Applicants must have served in the military or be the immediate family member of a veteran, have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical. Veterans receive priority.
During the month of October through Veterans Day, November 11, 2022 in observance of Operation Green Light, Monroe County encourages its citizens in patriotic tradition to recognize the importance of honoring all those who made immeasurable sacrifices to preserve freedom by displaying a green light in a window of their place of business or residence.
The Monroe County Veterans in Distress is a non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to provide assistance to Monroe County Veterans. They raise money through various means to support Veterans with medical expenses and other hardships.
The Monroe County Veterans Office is now providing a receptacle to place used, worn or ripped flags for proper retirement. Accessible 24/7, the drop-off is located at the office entrance.
