Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 307.66, as amended, the Board of County Commissioners may annually appropriate funds to posts, garrisons, and camps of congressionally chartered veteran organizations to an amount not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) per organization to aid in defraying the expenses of Memorial Day ceremonies.
Accordingly, reimbursement is permitted, up to $1,000.00, to cover the costs of the following items:
- Flowers and wreaths used in Memorial Day services.
- Flag staffs or medallion markers identifying veteran graves.*
- Erection and removal of a speaker’s stand, microphone, and loudspeakers.
- Decorations of the speaker’s stand.
- Rental of chairs.
- Transportation of a band for ceremonies.
*These items are provided by the Monroe County Veteran’s Office, no reimbursement will be made.
Reimbursement of Memorial Day Expenses Application for veteran organizations. Due by July 31.
Payments will be made only to the applicable organizations. Payments to individuals will not be made.
